Time Out for Adults

Author: JenniferMaster1

Parents and child care providers often use a technique called “time out” for children when they misbehave.  It usually consists of removing the child from the stressful situation and giving the child a special spot to sit and calm down.

Sometimes our relationships with a spouse or other loved one needs a “time out”. I’m not talking about removing yourself from your spouse as much as removing both of you from the stresses of life. Oftentimes, if we can take a break together such as going on a date to dinner and/or a movie, taking a long drive with each other or even having a mini vacation, it can remove us from the normal “hum-drum” rut and also the stresses of life and put some connection and spark back into that relationship.

I had a friend once feel she couldn’t justify the cost of outings such as this. Her husband, who was in school to become a counselor, explained very wisely that these types of outings cost less than paying a marriage counselor!

So just this past weekend my husband and I took a Friday evening and half a Saturday to stay at the “Anniversary Inn”.  It wasn’t our anniversary, but what a great romantic place to be! Besides setting the atmosphere for some sizzling intimacy, it was great to have a few hours to talk deeply about our lives and without any interruptions! We even had dinner, movie snacks and breakfast delivered right to our door so we stayed in our “Pirate Paradise” room the whole time.

I returned home feeling more appreciative of my relationship with my husband and refreshed with life. Since we took a tour of most of the 33 rooms available, I look forward to returning to the “Tipi” room or “Aphrodite’s Court” or the “Arabian Nights” in a few months or for our 25th Anniversary this June.

I still have two of my six children at home and don’t want to forget those relationships. When life gets crazy busy, it’s easy to forget spending the “time out” with your children. Since I’ve been spending a tremendous amount of time recently on my website, I made a point to have a game night with my two younger boys and husband. My husband doesn’t enjoy board games much, so it’s a sacrifice for him to join us. However, when we spend that focused time together, we usually end up laughing and relaxing and really enjoying being together. It’s so important to keep those family relationships healthy.

So next time life gets a little hectic, write a “time out” event on your schedule and look forward to a good time!

Sorry, I have no idea. I hired a web designer to do my site and he keeps things running smoothly for me.

  7. I am curious to find out what blog system you are using? I’m having some minor security issues with my latest site and I’d like to find something more risk-free. Do you have any recommendations? Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any points for first-time blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.

Oh, yeah, I do use wordpress format for my blog, not Blogger. It’s a bit more difficult to use but my web designer gave me some help. As for blogging tips, first think of 5 or 6 categories that fit with your blog theme. Always write down ideas you have on a list you won’t lose. Then work on them when you have set aside some time. Check other blogs or ezine articles for ideas. It’s a good idea to ask permission if you want to share other people’s ideas and always give them credit and reference their website. I’m a bit of a perfectionist so it might take me an hour or more to write up some posts. I research a bit to find ideas to back up my subject matter. Hope these ideas help.

  8. If it is the former, what you do is actually: create an account upon Blogger. Go ahead an pick a template. It’s not going to matter. Stick to the directions onscreen until you reach where you can start dinking using the blog’s settings. Click on “Template.” Now, here’s the tricky bit: you’re going to be looking at a display full of code. Read through it until you see a tag that says . Start selecting the code, and keep highlighting it until you see a tag that scans . Don’t close your own browser window, although! Now, copy what you’ve highlighted as well as go to your web page editor, like Notepad or even Dreamweaver or whatever. Open up a sample page out of your already-created web site and conserve it as blog.html code or whatever. Now, wherever you want the blog content to appear, insert the code you’ve copied into your own web page code. Now, read through the code, and, if you find anything that references a sidebar, delete it. Save your document and preview this in your browser. You are going to see a bunch of strange code in your document. That’s normal since it isn’t uploaded to your site yet. Go through the code one more time, checking for code references to things you do not want. Now, highlight all of your code in your web site file, and then go back to your Blogger template. Select ALL the code there, and insert in your new code. Save your settings, however don’t republish yet. Now, go set your FTP configurations, your archive configurations, etc. Once you’re finished with all of that, go make a test publish. Publish it. After that, view your blog. It should look like your web site. If anything looks screwy, go mess around with the signal in the template area until it appears right. And, I can’t stress this sufficient: make sure all your configurations in Blogger are correct. It can clutter stuff up in a big way.

  9. Do something that relaxes you, like take a bubble bath, or chill out outside.
